Keynote Presenter:
We
stress that a Ministry Today conference is very much a meeting of
equals to share and learn from our different experiences of pastoral
ministry. This year, we will also have available to us the skills and
experience of an internationally known and respected trainer of leaders
in the business sector, who is kindly giving us his
time and expertise without charge.
John van Maurik is a Management Coach and Consultant who, after
a lifetime in senior executive posts, now specialises in coaching
leaders. He also happens to be an active and committed Christian.
John
has been coaching since 1995 and has coached a wide
range of executives across the private and public sectors. Having
worked on a wide range of management development and coaching
initiatives focusing on leadership, strategy, change management, team
building, communication skills and personal development, John's vast
experience has benefited many people's careers.
Recent
clients include Glaxo Smithklein, Kodak, Sainsbury's and a major NHS
Trust.
Other
recent clients include Boots the Chemist, Schindler Elevators,
Invensys, ntl:, Societe Generale, The Metropolitan Police, Transport
for London and The Prudential.
Previously
John was director of the Senior Executive Programme at
world-leading management training centre PA Sundridge Park. There he
established ongoing coaching relationships with senior people from
diverse businesses and facilitated a number of strategy formulation
workshops at board level.
John
has written several books, including: 'Discovering the Leader
in You' (McGraw Hill. 1994), 'The Portable Leader - how genuine
leadership and teamwork can produce outstanding results', (McGraw Hill.
1997), 'The Effective Strategist' (Gower. 1999) and 'Writers on
Leadership' (Penguin 2001). He has also published numerous articles in
journals and the national press as well as having broadcast on BBC
radio.
As a
trainer, John has travelled widely; running programmes in 22
countries including the USA, South East Asia and the Indian
subcontinent. In 1994 he spent 3 months on assignment to The Center for
Creative Leadership, North Carolina.
John
now offers this lifetime of expertise to Ministry Today.
He is
married to Sheila and they have three adult children and three
grandchildren (so far). When he isn't travelling on business,
John and Sheila divide their time between a home in Sussex and Sheila's
family home in south Wales, where they worship in a local
Anglican congregation. |
