Current Situation: As Senior Minister of Central Baptist Church, Chelmsford (1993- ) he transformed a traditional and declining town-centre church into a strong, vibrant and growing fellowship.

Particular interests: Co-founder and former executive member of Mainstream - Baptists for Life and Growth, he is now the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Richard Baxter Institute for Ministry (RBIM) which aims to "provide a supportive resource for all in pastoral leadership so that they may not only survive, but also grow and develop, becoming more effective in the ministry to which Christ has called them". He is also the editor of Ministry Today, the journal of the RBIM published in association with the Bible Society.

Publications: Co-author of Turning the Tide: An Assessment Of Baptist Church Growth In England (Bible Society, London 1980), he has also written Pastors under Pressure (Kingsway, Eastbourne 1989), Dynamic Leadership (Marc/Monarch, Eastbourne 1990 - also translated into Swedish), Faith and Festivity: A Guide For Worship Leaders (Marc/Monarch Eastbourne 1991), Radical Believers: The Baptist Way Of Being The Church (Baptist Union Didcot 1992 - also translated into German), A Call To Excellence: An Essential Guide To Chrisian Leadership (Hodder & Stoughton, London 1995), Radical Disciples: A Course For New Christians (Baptist Union, Didcot 1996), Happy Ever After? A Guide To The Marriage Adventure (Baptist Union. Didcot 1996); and Radical Leaders: A Guide For Elders And Deacons In Baptist Churches (Baptist Union, Didcot 1997), Power For God's Sake? Power And Abuse In The Local Church (Paternoster, Carlisle 1998), and The Message Of The Resurrection (?The Bible Speaks Today?, IVP Leicester 2000). He edited Anyone For Ordination? (Monarch, Tunbridge Wells 1993). Along with three others he co-edited Prayers For All Peoples (Oncken Verlag, Wuppertal, Germany 1993). In 1998 Power For God's Sake? is to be published by Paternoster. His latest writing project is to write a ?theological? biography of his late father (Rev?d Dr George Beasley-Murray), entitled Fearless for Truth, to be published by Paternoster early 2002.

History: Paul Beasley-Murray, born 14th March 1944, read Modern Languages and Theology at Jesus College, Cambridge, before going on to Manchester, where alongside vocational training at the Northern Baptist College he gained a Ph.D. in New Testament studies from Manchester University . After further study at Zurich, he went to the Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire) with the Baptist Missionary Society to teach at Kisangani in the Protestant Theological Faculty of the then National University of Zaire. On his return he was for 13 years pastor of Altrincham Baptist Church, Cheshire, before being appointed in 1986 as Principal of Spurgeon's College, a Baptist theological college in South London. In 1993 he returned to pastoral ministry as Senior Minister of Central Baptist Church, Victoria Road South, Chelmsford, Essex.

Family: Married to Caroline, H.M.Coroner for the County of Essex and Thurrock, and also a part-time President of Mental Health Review Tribunals, he has four grown-up children: Jonathan, Timothy, Susannah and Benjamin.

Other interests: To relax he enjoys cooking and hosting dinner parties. Less relaxing but nonetheless a feature of his weekly day off is working out at the local gym! A great believer in taking a decent annual holiday, he enjoys foreign travel.
